The project will be developed this year and will be coordinated with cooperatives in Bahía Asunción and Puerto San Carlos, informed Sepada.

There will be 2 oyster seed production laboratories in Baja California Sur; one will be located in Bahía Asunción, in the municipality of Mulegé, and the second in Puertos San Carlos, Comondú, informed the Secretary of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Agricultural Development (Sepada), José Alfredo Bermúdez Beltrán.

The head of the project indicated that it will be consolidated by 2022, along with cold networks that will help preserve the product in good condition, as well as equipment to add value to production.

In this sense, he mentioned that the initiative aims to promote productive actions, that the fishery has traditionally exhausted its maximum extraction capacity, hence they have denied permits for new fisheries such as oysters.

Finally, he emphasized that working tours will be maintained to visit the fishing and aquaculture sector, together with the authorities of the 2 levels of government, to make an evaluation in collaboration also with the one dedicated to the activities of the sea.
