First South Californian home run in Mets goes viral

South Californian baseball player Kevin Villavicencio Mayoral, 18, hit his first home run as a player for the St. Lucie Mets minor league team, which is affiliated with the New York Mets major league team.

It was shared the moment on social networks, which quickly gained relevance in the state, since the athlete is originally from Santa Rosalia and was awarded the title of best player of the year by the New York team.

The home run came against the Dunedin Blue Jays -also a minor league team affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays- during the fifth inning, which was a solo run, and was one of the Mets’ three hits in the May 27 game.

Although the score did not favor the Mets, leaving them 1-5, family, friends and sports fans in the state congratulated the achievement of the Mulegé native in his journey through American baseball.
