In 2021 La Paz and Los Cabos exceeded the annual rainfall average

In Loreto and the municipality of Mulegé, it did not rain even 50% of what was expected, which caused droughts in those regions, as opposed to La Paz and Los Cabos.

The National Water Commission (Conagua) revealed that during 2021 in the municipalities of La Paz and Los Cabos the annual average rainfall was exceeded, being the community of San Antonio where the most water fell; however, the story is different to the north of Baja California Sur, where Loreto and Mulegé did not even reach 50% of the average.

The comparative of the accumulated rainfall taken into account by Conagua, goes from January 1 to December 28, 2021, where the communities of the municipality of La Paz stand out; in addition to San Antonio, also exceeded the annual average: Todos Santos with 92%; Los Planes with 53% and El Sargento with 41% more than expected.

In the case of Los Cabos, its different delegations also exceeded the rainfall of other years, for example, San Bartolo exceeded the annual average by 53%; Los Barriles by 55%; according to Conagua, La Ribera had 90% more than estimated.

The Commission added the case of Santiago, with 30%; for the urban area, Cabo San Lucas was said to average 208.7 millimeters, and exceeded only 20.5 millimeters. In San José del Cabo, 208.7 millimeters were expected and it rained 242.8 millimeters, about 34 millimeters more.
